Washington, D.C. — The Louis D. Brandeis Center Coalition to Combat Anti-Semitism (the “Coalition”), a new independent nonprofit civil rights organization committed to eliminating anti-Semitism and defending the rights of the Jewish people in the United States, has launched. The Coalition partners with the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law, an independent nonprofit advancing civil and human rights, to advance the Coalition’s mission.
The Coalition is a voluntary membership organization open to anyone who supports its mission: to combat anti-Semitism in all its forms, defend the civil and human rights of the Jewish people, and promote justice for all.
“At a time of rising anti-Semitism across the country, the Coalition empowers individuals and communities with the tools, support, and legal recourse to fight back,” said Emma Enig, Executive Director at the Coalition. “This Coalition exists to take meaningful, systemic action on behalf of those targeted because of their Jewish identity or connection to Israel.”
What the Coalition Does
The Coalition defends the rights of Jewish individuals and communities facing unlawful discrimination—not only on the basis of religion, but also shared ancestry, ethnicity, and Zionism, the Jewish people’s deep and historical connection to the land of Israel. Working alongside outside legal counsel, the Coalition supports its members through advocacy, negotiation, litigation, and administrative action when needed.
The Coalition investigates reports of anti-Semitism wherever they may arise—in schools, universities, workplaces, public institutions, or elsewhere. When warranted, it takes action in courts of law, administrative agencies, and the court of public opinion to hold accountable those who perpetrate or tolerate anti-Semitic harassment and discrimination.
A Call to Action
The Coalition invites all individuals who share in its mission to join this vital effort. By becoming a member, individuals gain access to a national support network committed to protecting Jewish rights and combating anti-Semitism with the strength of collective action and the backing of the law.
