On Wednesday, Feb 8 – Thursday, Feb 9, LDB’s Director of Legal Initiatives Aviva Vogelstein and LDB’s Civil Rights Legal Fellow, Roee Talmor, will speak at three of Chicago’s LDB law student chapters. On Wednesday, Vogelstein and Talmor will address LDB students at Chicago-Kent College of Law about Using the Law to Combat Campus Anti-Semitism. On Thursday, Vogelstein and Talmor will address LDB students at the University of Chicago Law School on the topic of Preventing Bias on Campus, and then they will speak to LDB students at the Loyola-Chicago School of Law on Fighting the New Anti-Semitism. 
 
Aviva Vogelstein is the Director of Legal Initiatives at the Brandeis Center. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2010, magna cum laude, with a BA in American History, and from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2013. During law school, Aviva served as Notes Editor for Cardozo’s Journal of Conflict Resolution, one of the world’s preeminent legal journals of arbitration, negotiation and mediation, and was a fellow in Cardozo’s Bet Tzedek Legal Services Clinic. Since joining the Brandeis Center, Aviva’s work has focused on combating the resurgence of anti-Semitism on American university campuses through legal and public policy approaches, and growing LDB’s law student chapter initiative. Aviva has testified before government bodies in support of legislation to curb anti-Semitism, and frequently speaks and presents to a wide variety of audiences at universities, synagogues, and community organizations.  Roee Talmor was born in Israel, but spent much of his childhood in Northern California. He graduated from law school at the University of Chicago in 2017, and received a B.A. in political science from UCLA in 2013. He also served in the Israeli army between 2005 and 2008. Roee joined the Brandeis Center because, given the alarming increase in anti-Semitism, especially in the last year, he felt compelled as a grandson to holocaust survivors to contribute his skills and education towards creating a safer atmosphere for Jewish students. In his free time, he enjoys yoga, travel, running, and trying new cuisines.
